He first started his career as an actor by starring in the No Smoking film in 2007 and also starred in films like Aamir (2008) and the Ugly (2013) before turning to directing. His first film as a director was Peddlers (2012), and for this film he was nominated for a Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Recently, he joined hands with Alia Bhatt for the next film, Jigra (2024).
