Death Note Season 2 is a highly anticipated sequel, fueled by the success and popularity of the first season in 2006 and 2007. So it’s no surprise that fans are still wondering if this anime will be renewed for a second season.

The anime series “Obituary‘ is based on a popular and successful thriller manga series of the same name, first published in 2003. The ‘Obituary‘Manga series is written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata.
“Death Note” is an exceptional thriller anime series, loved by fans all over the world. It centers on the conflict between Light Yagami, a teenage genius who decides to use a supernatural notebook called Death Note to create a new world order, and L, a mysterious and eccentric detective determined to stop him.
The anime television series Death Note has only ever existed a season. It is directed by Tetsuro Araki and animated by Madhouse. There is also a live adaptation from Netflix.
No announcement has been made yet as to whether the studio and director will return for a possible new season of Death Note.

Will there be a Death Note season 2?
Death Note season 2 has yet to be officially announced. However, the chance of more episodes seems small. there is little manga material left for another season. The first season included all 12 volumes of the manga, leaving only a few one-shot chapters and spin-offs for a possible second season.
Adding to the pessimism is the anime’s mixed reception among fans.. The first season received critical acclaim and popularity, with an average rating of 8.6 out of 10 on MyAnimeList. However, many fans were disappointed by the second half of the series and the ending. It wasn’t bad, but compared to the first half it was lacking.
The manga series ended in 2006. No new developments have occurred since then. Just the Netflix adaptation, but we won’t talk about that. While it’s not impossible, there may not be a new season because the story is complete and thus one isn’t needed.

The anime skipped scenes during the Yotsuba arc and essentially cut Near and Mello’s screen time in half. They also deleted many scenes from Light and removed the epilogue completely.
I highly recommend checking out Death Note manga. Many fans prefer manga over anime, and it is the only way to understand the whole story in 2024.
