After Manatee County residents voted online, Governor Ron DeSantis Park, located at 7510 Prospect Road, Sarasota, Florida, just north of Kinnan Elementary School, was named in honor of the 46th Governor of Florida.

Manatee County District 4 Commissioner Mike Rahn said, “Governor Ron DeSantis always puts the well-being of Florida’s families first. May this park honor his commitment as a devoted family man and provide a wonderful setting for Manatee County families to create lasting memories together.

Here are some of the highlights of the new facility:

  • Two separate playgrounds
  • Two shaded pickleball courts
  • Fitness trail
  • Two dog parks
  • Permanent toilets
  • ADA accessible parking
  • Solar lighting (as part of the Light-Up Manatee initiative)

Governor DeSantis said, “What a beautiful park! As a father, I’m glad it’s here for so many families to enjoy in the future.
