Marcus East is reportedly leaving T-Mobile at the end of the month as the company plans to lay off employees soon.

Marcus East is out on T-Mobile; More layoffs could come

T-Mobile executive vice president and chief digital officer Marcus East is expected to step down by the end of August.

According to T-Mobile’s official website, East “leads a talented team of designers, digital marketers, engineers, product specialists, and technologists” at the company.

The sources also inform us of East’s deactivated T-Mobile Slack account, which means he has already left the company and does not work for T-Mobile. But it is assumed that his official term ends in August.

East’s departure will result in the reshuffling of key T-Mobile executives. Thus, the leaders of the company planned the new administrative structure of their digital group.
According to the sources, Nestor Cano, executive vice president and chief information and digital officer at T-Mobile, will succeed East after his departure.

Nestor previously worked as chief operating officer at Sprint, managing cost reduction to strengthen the business.

In his new role at T-Mobile, Nestor is responsible for bringing T-Mobile and Sprint together to create a supercharged Un-carrier to deliver high benefits to customers, employees and shareholders.

Additionally, sources say T-Mobile could lead to more layoffs among employees in support, training, resource planning, and other core teams who only occasionally come into contact with customers. Layoffs are expected in September and October.

According to several rumors, the company may eliminate IC (Individual Contributor) roles, including store management or individual mobile experts. However, this assumption is based on rumors and it is still unknown which positions will be removed.
