Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will meet with wealthy Republicans this week to try to shore up support for the new Fight Right political action committee, a super PAC, according to a memo sent Monday morning by DeSantis campaign manager James Uthmeier. recently created which supports his presidential candidacy.

Ron DeSantis meets with potential Super PAC donors

According to their website, “Fight Right exists for one purpose: to shed light on the failed results and leadership of Governor DeSantis’ opponents.”

This follows conflicts with another super PAC that resulted in the departure of the organization’s CEO last week.

Fight Right was founded earlier this month by DeSantis allies. DeSantis adviser David Dewhirst, DeSantis appointee Jeff Aaron, and DeSantis-linked lobbyist Scott Ross are among Fight Right’s directors.

According to sources, there was a division within the political team over how to counter former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s rise in the polls as she attempts to become the favorite against Trump.

DeSantis’ campaign suffered a late-race upset when Fight Right began airing attack ads against rising presidential opponent Nikki Haley last week.

Never Back Down previously released its own ads targeting Nikki Haley, the former UN ambassador, but they were recently taken off the air due to concerns that the negative spots would reflect negatively on DeSantis due to his close ties to this super PAC.

Former Never Back Down CEO Chris Jankowski announced his resignation last week, citing issues that went “far beyond a strategic difference of opinion” and that the atmosphere had become “untenable” for him.

James Uthmeier also noted that while the campaign would applaud Fight Right’s efforts, it would also like to recognize the “incredible field operation and ground game” of Never Back Down, which contributed significantly to the candidacy of DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election.

Uthmeier said Fight Right will “dedicate its full attention to the fight for Ron DeSantis through a powerful television commercial.”

Uthmeier added, “In the final push for victory in the Iowa Caucus, this campaign will proudly fight alongside the NBD’s impressive ground game and the Fight Right television team to show the residents of Iowa that the time has come to choose.

Uthmeier said he “welcomes the independent efforts” of the new super PAC to provide “welcome air support.”

Uthmeier laid out an ideal plan in the memo for the final two months before voting begins: Fight Right takes the airwaves, and the campaign and Never Back Down work on the ground.

The campaign cannot legally coordinate with the groups, but the vision statement expresses directly to them how they can support the campaign’s activities.

According to an anonymous source, DeSantis is expected to meet with potential Fight Right supporters on Monday in Palm Beach, Florida.

Since the summer, Haley’s numbers have continued to rise in state and national polls, and the governor is losing ground, so that the two are now vying for second place, well behind Donald Trump.

Based on the most recent national polling average of 538, DeSantis leads Haley by about 12 to 10 percent.

According to 538 averages, DeSantis is behind only Haley for second place in Iowa. Still, he fell to fourth place in New Hampshire, behind Trump, Haley and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
