Thangalaan is the upcoming Chiyaan Vikram film directed by Pa. Ranjith. The film also features Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu in pivotal roles. Dhanajayan G and KE Gnanavelraja bankrolled this film under the banner of Studio Green and Neelam Productions. It is a big budget action film shot in both 2D and 3D. The film is based on true events that tell the story of the Kolar gold mines during the pre-independence era of India. GV Prakash is composing the music and background score for the film.
The first glimpse of the film shows a rugged Vikram in a tribal outfit, and the look resembles Kamal Haasan’s makeover in Marudhnayagam. Kishor Kumar shot the entire film. The music rights are acquired by Junglee Music.
The teaser for the Thangalaan film was released on November 1, 2023 at 11:30 am. The glimpses of the teaser show tribal leaders fighting against the British who planned to take their land to extract gold.
