In a 41-count indictment, naming 19 people, Trump was charged last month in Fulton County with criminal racketeering and numerous conspiracy offenses. In response to a letter sent by Jordan late last month, Willis said there was “no justification in the Constitution for Congress to intervene in a state criminal matter.”

Willis said the “obvious purpose” of Jordan’s requests “is to obstruct a criminal proceeding in Georgia and promote outrageous partisan misrepresentations.”
She added: “Your job description as a legislator does not include enforcing criminal law, nor overseeing a specific criminal trial, because you believe that will further your partisan political goals.”

Willis continued his recent letter and public statements: “Your letter makes clear that you do not have a basic understanding of the law, its practice, and the ethical obligations of lawyers in general and prosecutors in particular.
She went on to say that she would respond to parts of her original letter, even if “settled constitutional law” allowed her to “ignore your unwarranted and unlawful intrusion into an open public criminal proceeding.”

Fani said Jordan’s criticism of the length of the investigation and the timing of the indictment was “unfounded,” adding that he had no reason to suggest his office inappropriately used the federal funds.
She also claimed that her office received federal grants from the Justice Department. She warned that if Congress withholds these funds, she said, “you will decide to allow serial rapists to go unprosecuted, hate crimes to go untreated, and cancel programs intended for children at risk.

Willis also provided a list of “suggestions for productive activities” made by the Judiciary Committee, including the recommendation that Congress increase federal grants to test untested rape kits and expand a program for children with problems with the criminal justice system.
Fani Willis concluded by stating that, because Jordan appeared to have a vested interest in his office, “you should consider asking the USDOJ to investigate the racist threats that were made against my staff and me at the following this investigation.
