Assembly Bill 1557 concerns computerized drug prescriptions. It allows healthcare facilities and pharmacists to perform remote reviews of prescription records if necessary. It aims to increase access to medications in underserved and rural communities facing staffing shortages.

Newsom said it was one of 26 bills signed over the weekend. A Republican drafted five bills, including AB 1557. Local areas like Copperopolis, Oakdale, and La Grange are included in Flora Assembly District 9.
