IT decision makers are increasingly relying on service providers to seek help with cloud migration.
Here is the detailed news.
IT Decision Makers and Vendors on Migration to the Cloud
A new study reveals that service providers are transforming into cloud migration support providers to help IT managers with cloud technology.
According to RapidScale’s “The Cloud Migration Reality Check” survey of 500 IT decision-makers in North America, 90% of decision-makers said they underestimated the complexity of cloud migrations.
Of this total, 47% expect “improved application performance and operational efficiency” through vendor support for cloud migration.
The survey report also reveals that 68% of decision-makers said only half of their IT environments had been migrated to the cloud, while 35% said they had tracked cloud migration significantly.
Additionally, 43% indicated they had IT and data security concerns with cloud migration. The survey found that almost all respondents use vendors for some aspect of cloud migrations, including application development/modernization assistance, cloud infrastructure design and deployment, and database migration or application refactoring.
About 59% seek help with application modernization and about 54% prefer vendor help for cloud infrastructure.
Cloud migration involves moving applications and data from one location, typically a company’s private, on-premises or on-premises servers, to a public cloud provider’s servers and also between different clouds.
Cloud migration is a complex task for IT managers as it involves various technical challenges and requires making important decisions regarding cloud providers, migration strategies, and application modernization.
The new survey report concludes that IT decision-makers are now relying on service providers to help them with cloud migrations.
In a statement, Duane Barne, vice president and general manager of RapidScale, said: “RapidScale plays a central role in providing expertise across a range of services, from application modernization to cloud infrastructure design, through the simplification of IT and the release of innovation for businesses. »
“Organizations that leverage the expertise and resources offered by capable partners like RapidScale can mitigate risks and capitalize on the potential that the cloud can offer,” he added.
The report also reveals that 31% of candidates need to perform better due to the complexity of migration. About 40% of respondents reported unexpected costs related to supporting on-premises and cloud operations and cloud proliferation, while many respondents found that manual work on related issues to the cloud also brings unexpected costs.
Again, RapidScale’s survey report indicates that the increasing migration to the cloud has led many IT companies to invest in the cloud.
For example, Capgemini, one of the world’s most popular information and technology companies, announced in February that it would invest an average of $1 billion in the cloud over the next 3 to 5 years.
