Host Jimmy Kimmel protected himself against Trump’s legal threat by apologizing for his alleged false reporting about the former president’s business loss while criticizing Trump on his show.
Here is the detailed news.
Kimmel defends himself against Trump’s legal threat with a sneaky apology
Jimmy Kimmel, the well-known host of the late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” defended himself against former President Donald Trump’s legal threats by issuing an apology on his late-night show Wednesday .
On Tuesday, Kimmel mocked Trump’s Twitter-like social media platform, Truth Social, based on a report that the platform had lost $73 million.
Following his comments, Trump’s company, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), demanded a retraction and apology from the host.
However, following the news that Trump’s company had only lost $31.6 million, Kimmel issued a pardon statement on his late-night talk show while attacking the former president and his entire team.
In his statement, Kimmel said, “We talk a lot about Donald Trump here on the show. In the same way, paleontologists talk about apes, right? We study him, but sometimes it’s easy to forget that he actually sees this stuff. He is obsessed with himself and what people say about him. And this puts us once again in the crosshairs of our crazy ex-president and his compatriots.
The host claimed he received a letter from the Trump Media and Technology Group asking him to retract his statements about the company’s reported financial loss.
Offering his message of apology, Kimmel added: “To be fair, Truth Social is not a colossal failure. It’s just a catastrophic failure. I’d like to do the right thing and congratulate our former balloon animal president and his company for losing just $31.6 million. For you, that’s pretty good. This is one of your best performances to date.
The host astutely criticized Trump for his legal suits and demanded a retraction.
He said: “I have to say that demanding a retraction for incorrectly reporting the value of his business is pretty damn hilarious considering he is currently on trial for incorrectly reporting the value of his business. Maybe he should sue himself.
Kimmel added: “But in all honesty, TMTG demanded an apology, so from the bottom of my heart I want to say, Donald Trump and everyone at TMTG, I am deeply sorry that you are so bad at running businesses , I guess.”
