The two Indian-Americans, Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy, who have emerged as strong contenders among the Republican presidential hopefuls, are at odds over how they feel about the current conflict in the Middle East, which has reached now more than 3,700 dead.
According to Politico, Ramaswamy, in an interview with reporters in New Hampshire, claimed that the former South Carolina governor should be “disqualified from the office of president.”
He went on to accuse Haley of having “personal conflicts of interest,” pointedly referring to her husband’s work in the defense industry.
Ramaswamy criticized his “hawkish neoconservative vision”, which he said raised concerns about the possibility of “protracted conflict and war”.

He said: “Nikki Haley has experience in foreign policy, and it shows in her bank account, to the tune of $8 million. It’s sick. Especially when you have a Biden crime family and the White House that have monetized their relationships and their foreign policy and sold out our foreign policy. We don’t need to replace them with a Republican version of the same thing,”
Ramaswamy added: “I don’t want a president close to the White House who is prepared to drag us into a Third World War, like [Haley’s] the rhetoric suggests so.
Haley has previously claimed that Ramaswamy shares his foreign policy views with members of the so-called progressive Democratic “squad,” such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib.
Haley remarked, “Ramaswamy looks like the team. And there is no room for the team or Ramaswamy.

Ramaswamy’s attack Friday was not the first targeting Haley regarding Gaza. Throughout their campaign speeches and the two Republican debates, Haley and Ramaswamy laid out their distinct approaches to foreign affairs.
Haley has positioned herself as an establishment Republican. She was the United States Ambassador to the UN during the Trump administration. She has long been a strong supporter of Israel and has consistently spoken in favor of a strong alliance between the United States and Israel.

However, Ramaswamy took a more balanced stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has been reluctant to fully support the United States’ policy of unwavering support for Israel.
Ramaswamy instead argued for a balanced strategy that emphasizes the importance of a two-state solution and the need to address the Palestinian side of the conflict.
The disagreement between Nikki Haley and Ramaswamy highlights a broader debate within the Republican Party over the party’s foreign policy stance, particularly regarding the Middle East.
Although historically the Republican Party has been a staunch supporter of Israel, some party members are advocating for a more nuanced position as the Israeli-Palestinian issue continues to evolve.
